Mindful Movement for PD Goes to Sarasota
YogaReach founder Char Grossman has created a targeted program for the growing community living with the effects of Parkinson's disease. For many years, the YogaReach team has served an array of clients with medical and mental challenges. Over the last decade, YogaReach has instructed a growing number of clients and their carepartners managing life with PD. In response, Char developed the YogaReach Mindful Movement for PD classes and workshops to incorporate adaptive techniques specifically tailored for this population.
If you, a friend or family member are affected by PD, have you considered bringing an adaptive therapeutic yoga movement class to your community? The YogaReach Mindful Movement for PD workshop will help you gain useful skills for your own yoga practice as well as inspire attendees to reach within and strengthen their abilities!
In October 2017, YogaReach presented our Mindful Movement for PD workshop at Garden of the Heart Yoga Center in Sarasota, Florida. Char introduced 12 amazing people to our highly-specialized instructional program. As participants got familiar with the characteristics of PD during this three-day workshop, Char and Michael, our YogaReach team member, taught signature YogaReach techniques that improve daily functioning. Thanks to the generosity of Garden of the Heart Yoga Studio, participants were able to practice their skills with members who have PD that reside in the Sarasota community. As with our YogaReach Mindful Movement classes, Char engaged participants with interactive discussion, hands-on collaboration, and laughter.
YogaReach is grateful that these compassionate participants completed our Mindful Movement for PD Professional Workshop. It was a rewarding opportunity for us to learn together. We ended our workshop with suggestions on how to launch classes in the Sarasota community.
